The World War II Plaque at City Hall in Hackensack honors those who died during their service in World War II.  I do not know as of June 2013 how Louis DeGeorgia was Killed in Action.

While walking through the St. Joseph’s Cemetery by Route 4 in Hackensack, I came across this grave marker with
Louis DeGeorgia’s military photo on it.  The dates are general in nature from 1914 to 1945. A 1933 Hackensack High School graduate, Louis DeGeorgia’s name is located on the Original World War II plaque at Hackensack High School with a gold star, for which Louis would have received the Purple Heart. 

I do not know when Louis DeGeorgia was repatriated to St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  We will post the answers to these questions once we find out more about his service.  Until then we want to post this reminder of the great sacrifice Louis DeGeorgia paid and never forget his sacrifice.

According to information George Toriello researched from the "Federal Census" and "Ancestry. com", Louis DeGeorgia served in the Army and was a Private First Class. 

According to the Federal census of 1940 at that time, Louis DeGeorgia was 25 years married to Violet, age 21 years old, and they were renting an apartment from a Carmine Di Georgio/a, possibly a relative.    

Louis DeGeorgia would have been 26 to 27 years old when war broke out on December 7, 1941.  How he died is still unknown to us as of December 27, 2017.
